Choosing to spend an exchange period in Brussels, it is choosing to study in a very international city, not only hosting the European Institutions but also NATO, as well as many multinational companies, press organs and non-governmental organizations.
Did you know that Brussels is the 3rd most important city in the world in terms of international conferences? Being twice a capital - of Belgium and of Europe - Brussels is one of the most cosmopolitan cities, having a long tradition of mixing cultures. Brussels however remains a human-sized and pleasant capital to live in, thanks - among others - to its numerous green-spaces.
Studying in Brussels will give you the opportunity to experience a thriving cultural and night life, with plenty of restaurants, bars, museum… but also to travel throughout Europe. Thanks to high speed trains, Brussels is only 1h15 from Paris, 2h from London …
 
Choosing to spend an exchange period at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, it is choosing to study in one of the best European universities –a full-fledged university, with 11 faculties-, in one of the most international universities also. Did you know that nearly 30% of the ULB student population is not Belgian?
 
Founded in 1834, the Université “Libre” (= free) de Bruxelles has always shown its independence mind and has remained true to its the principle of "Libre Examen". This principle of free thinking analysis advocates independent reasoning and the rejection of dogma in all its forms.
 
Choosing to spend ones exchange period within our Faculties (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management), it is choosing to study in the most important faculties of the university in terms of regular and exchange students’ s number.
 
Our two faculties have four departments: Social Sciences, Politics, Labour Sciences as well as the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. As an exchange student, you will therefore have access to a wide range of teaching areas.
